Joinery must be correctly treated without delay and prior to fitting. It is most important that both faces and all edges are fully treated before the joinery is fitted. Cut outs must be treated accordingly, with a quality oil based primer/sealer. Water based are not recommended as they can be detrimental to the stability of your door. It is absolutely vital that 'end' grain is completely protected, and at least 2 top coats are applied before hanging/installation.
Doors should be reduced equally from both sides when fitting mortise locks fitted at rail joints can result in the removal of one or more dowels, so weakening the joint. Final coat should be applied immediately upon hanging/completion.
Timber is a natural grown produce subject to change, due to variations of humidity and temperature, we ensure that the timber has been prepared to make it suitable. Obviously we can not know all the circumstances and every situation in which our products are stored and installed, we therefore can not give any guarantee against shrinkage, warping or splitting. A warp or distortion of 6mm from outer edges either vertically, horizontally or diagonally is within accepted manufacturing tolerances.
Regular maintenance of all joinery should be maintained to prevent breakdown of paint film and so protect the fibre from deterioration.
Fitting of the doors/joinery, or making any alterations, you will have accepted our terms and conditions, and that the goods supplied, are in excellent condition.
We will not guarantee and external door that is not protected from the elements, a rain canopy of at least 1000m wide x 800mm deep, fitted above a single external door, is required to protect your door.
The above protection/finishing of the doors/joinery is standard trade practice.
